#83 How to live Encouraged Before Prelims?

“All your dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them”.

                                               – Walt disney

As the upsc cse prelims is approaching,it is going to be that time of the year when the nervousness ,self doubt , anxiety is going to be at peak. Civil services is not just an exam but rather an emotion which defines the year long struggle of the aspirant’s. A majority of aspirants might be living away from home, their parents, friends.some might have left a high paying job , so that they can achieve their aim of becoming civil servants.

But between all this hassle ,their lie aspirants who get carried away with the exam, they become anxious and nervous as the exam approaches, doubting themselves whether or not they will make it to the list, whether or not they have studied enough for the exam, getting envious of others’ performance. They rob themselves of their mental peace and procrastinate, which is completely opposite of what one should be doing before any exam.

So,what must one do  to stay all charged up and motivated for the exam?

The answer to this question is keep doing what you were doing, clearly not what you expected!! But this is what will sustain you in the game. Keeping your head held high and doing the necessary is going to take you to your ultimate goal and not procrastinating it. Self doubt will only make you vulnerable and will leave with no solution ultimately robbing you of your precious time. As it is rightly said”Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere.”

One of the most important things to keep in mind while preparing for this exam is discipline and consistency. Discipline is what motivates you in accomplishing your goals. Those who are disciplined are free in life and if you are indisciplined you are a slave to your moods. Follow your time table and do not skip even for days when you do not feel like completing your targets, because if you are disciplined enough to do it you will be motivated enough to reach it.
